hooray! for the past few hours, my internet connection has been bung. i thought it was cause i hadn't been paying for the internet but hopefully it'll last a few more weeks. umm wow i haven't updated for ages, d'oh. have just been studying for my last test before exams on wednesday. i can't wait, after that i'll just have the exams to study for and i'm sure i have at least 4 weeks to do that. and my last exam is on the 15th of june which gives me more than a week to bum around. jane and emma might be visiting me, yay. i'm so excited.

gutted, they're cutting off our free internet. as of tonight, we'll have to pay to be on the network which REALLY sucks. i'm probly not gonna join cause it's like $80 a semester. that's expensive, i think. i'll probably just use my home connection every now and then. anyhoo, i had my optics test today. it was REALLY hard, like there were soooo many questions and there was no way i could finish them properly. i hope i did alright though. i studied as much as i could and i went hard so if i don't do alright then i'll be in trouble. one down, three to go. four tests altogether! and i only take 3 papers this semester. oh well, only two weeks till i go home.

holy mac, my flatmates are watching hostel in the living room. i think jeff downloaded it from the network. it sounds really gory, i can hear like slashing sounds and everyone screaming. soooo glad i'm not watching with them.
today i had my optics tutorial. hopefully the test is gonna be alright, i've worked my butt off for this paper and i think i get most of it. i'm so relieved it's friday but i've got so much to catch up on cause i have a lab report due. after my test i'm probably gonna clean my room or something, it's kinda borderline grotty. it doesn't smell or anything though. speaking of grotty, the other day we found these towels that were growing mould on them haha. i'm not sure what had happened, i think someone found a little bit of mould and soaked them in the bucket inside our storage room and then forgot about it. we put them in the washer and the washer smelt so bad afterwards. apart from that, nothing serious like mice or anything.

even though i'm at the risk of sounding incredibly emo; holy crap i'm depressed.
the workload thingy is really starting to pile up now. i have my first test next wednsday on physical optics. i've just been studying for it now but i'm not at all confident cause physics hasn't been my strong subject. and it's worth frickin' 10%!!! and then i have like 3 lab reports due. these few days i've been staying up til 12:30 and getting up for 8am class and i think i'm running on empty. i CANT WAIT to go home.

yesterday was fun. i went to breakers for tea with chels, dave, jace, jane and mishi. we sat at the surfboard table by the smirnoff car. dinner was pretty nice and others got dessert (i was too full). it was so good to catch up with jane and mishi, i hadn't seen them for aaaages. afterwards, chels took us home and we were behind this subaru that had a "for sale" sign and a contact number so mishi texted them and said "nice car" and they replied saying "do you want to buy it" and she texted back "do you come with the car?" ahh it was so classic and then we pretty much followed them all through napier. we lost them at one of the roundabouts but we caught up with them by a different route. it was so obvious that we were following and when we passed them, they blatantly stared at us. man it was classic. then we went visit andrew and he smelt like chlorine.

well only a week until i'm back in auckland. can't wait! today i caught up with james edwards. we went to sappho and heath to grab some coffee and we sat outside and chatted. emiel was there too - i don't know him at all but he's funny. then andrew came and we went to marine parade to look at the pania statue. it was funny as, all these tourists took photos of it. it's famous as now that it was stolen/returned. then we lay on the grass and just hung out. it was good as, and we also saw nicola. the weather was pretty nice too. i'm really gonna miss summer but winter's good as well.

hi! haven't been up to much apart from work at farmers. i've been getting quite a lot of hours which is good, i suppose but it's quite frustrating cause it's like the same old most of the days and i always want to be doing other stuff. oh well, beggars can't be choosers. i have a few days off this week. i still have about $60 left of christmas money to spend and then $40 farmers vouchers so i don't feel too guilty about buying things. i saw a neat black knit wrap dress on special so i'll go see if it's still there tomorrow. i've been having a dilemma over it for the past few days. if it's still there, i'll take it as a sign that it's meant to be so i'll just buy it. if not, oh well. anyway, i can't really think of much else to say so byes.

i think this is a good time to starting writing in my journal, for old time's sake. my new years resolutions are: 1. drink a litre of water every day (a litre? 2L? whichever is the daily requirement) 2. study hard 3. make the most of my gym membership 4. save more money
i don't think these are too unreasonable, so i will endeavour to accomplish them. umm, haven't really been up to too much, apart from uni but that will take too long to write about. next year i'm doing optometry which should be good even though i don't know anyone else doing it. i suppose i should make an effort to make friends in my lectures which will help alot. okay don't have anything else to write, although i will try my best to update before i move back to auckland.

hello! i got home on sunday and it's been really nice being home, even if a little dull. so far i've just been shopping and went to see a movie Bride and Prejudice, which i liked very much. it's so colourful and lively! plus they burst into song and dance which is funny. tomorrow i'm gonna go to hastings to go shopping for shoes. i saw a really cute pair in auckland that were like ballet slippers but all silver sequinned. if i could get ruby ones, that'd be so dorothy. apart from that, i haven't been to much. it's been very boring, i feel like going exploring.

5:25 pm - owww, my frickin' ear
|
i just came back from the dr cause he had to do a minor operation on me. i had this cyst on the back of my earlobe from my piercing and it was really annoying so i got it cut off. the dr had to drug me up since the first two times he injected me, the anaesthesia wouldn't work. it was pretty gross actually, even though i never got to see the keratin. i'm prob gonna have to take some painkillers tonight cause it'll be painful.
apart from that, i haven't been up to much else. i slept in till 10 this morning. i'd forgotten what it was like to have REAL blankets. i'm gonna have to get them sent up or something cause its soooo good. and our carpet feels so soft! i wonder how everyone is at the hostel though, there'll only be like 5 people on my floor left. plus, it's taarati's 18th birthday on wednesday and they're going out every single night to celebrate. i'll just have to catch up next weekend. oh yeah i bought some running clothes today. some black puma pants and a hooded sweater, i think its adidas or one of those sporty brands. i might not go running until i'm back in auckland though cause my ear hurts and i can't really turn my head properly since the nurse taped my earlobe to the side of my head. it looks terribly awkward.

woo, it feels so good to be home! i think its been over 2 months since i was here and i'm soooo happy. auckland is an AWESOME place and i absolutely love hanging out at o'rorke but its nice to eat food whenever you like and cook and go to the beach, even though its freezing! my classes are going alright, i've had tests which have been kinda stressful but nothing i can't survive.
last night at o'rorke we watched harry potter. we turned off all the lights and grabbed our duvets and took a couch each. there was only 4 of us and it was so neat! and the night before we watched the wedding singer and shuddered at the 80s. have i mentioned how much i love hanging out with my floor? 4th floor is the best floor in the hall! i was so sad when everyone went back home for easter and it was only a couple of us left but it was awesome when everyone came back. i don't really hang out much with cass, james or leah but that's cool.
oh yeah, philip burnt me a copy of commander keen and worms world party which were majorly cute games. commander keen 4 is awesome but i really suck at it cause its been so long. worms world party is soooooo cute! its like these little worms with ninja headbands and they sneeze and stuff. since phil burnt it, i've got all his names which are all funny like bill clinton, die mafia, and jiggle. i swear i was laughing for ages when i saw the game for the first time.
well i'ma gonna go now but i'll try and update more this week.

ugh, why is it so hot today? these past few days have been gross and did i mention that i got sunburnt? i was lying on the tramp since it was hot and i was reading pride and prejudice and when i got back, my back was real sore and now one of my arms is more tanned than the other! crazy stuff.
i got my photos developed today and they're really really good! some of them have fingers in the corners but yeah, what can you do about that? i'm gonna try and get a couple of them scanned but i dunno if i have enough time. i'm gonna try and get some copies sent to mishi too cause i told her i would mail her stuff and i haven't, so far.
i'm still debating as to whether i should take my high heels to auckland. i most probably will. i can't wait till i'm there, we get to have good as food and i'll probably have a heap of free time before everyone arrives. i'm in the hostel by the 16th and leah comes on the 17th while james and cass come on the 19th. on the first night we have formal dinner and the rest of the week will be filled with cool stuff like going to waiheke island which is supposed to be fun and a cruise in the viaduct and interfloor volleyball. i'm determined that i will kick arse, i'll see how i progress in that.

happy chinese new year, everyone. remember to eat lots.
last night i had my music presentation. i got my associate diploma and i got to wear a black academic gown thing. those things are really stuffy. i also bought some new togs, hooray! they were on special for $30 and they're blue and red floral halterneck. i didn't get the gruts to go with it cause they probably would have cost $30 more so i just got the top. we also went out for lunch at east pier. it was nice cause we sat outside and it was nice and cool. i ate salmon gravlax and it was sooooo good. i really like seafood!
i also got my hair cut today. its really thin and cool now and she gave me a bit of a fringe. in winter i'll probably get it quite short.
haha tomorrow we're going to eskdale park for a potluck lunch. trust jane to have it out in the wops! i'm not sure if i can go, but hopefully i can. i dunno what to make though, my choc cake isn't that great.
oh yeah i also saw Alexander yesterday. i didn't really like it, it sorta dragged after the first hour. he just wouldn't die! but i will say that colin farrell is quite cute with his blonde hair.

since this is my last week in napier, i feel that i should update. i'm pretty excited about going to auckland but i'm really not looking forward to being a poor and scummy student. i can only afford to do my washing every 9 days (that's how many pairs of underwear i'm taking) so there's a pretty good chance that my room will smell. also, i have to share bathrooms with 6 other people, which includes boys. i hope the showers aren't too bad cause who knows what you can catch? esther and natalie said the food is gross, for dinner they load you up with carbs so you gain a lot of weight, and they use powdered eggs. powdered eggs!!! gross.
also, i'm not sure if i should bring my high strappy sandals. they look really nice with black pants and dark jeans but i wouldn't have anything else to wear them with. they're also really good to stamp on people when they're being drunk and disorderly and sleazy at parties. but that means i'd need to take a box for them, and that will take up a lot of room.
oh yeah today i baked a chocolate cake but i kinda burnt my knuckle, oh well. it's not bad but it's not sweet enough cause i didn't put enough sugar. also it's kinda crumbly and jace says i didn't put enough milk and butter in. i'm probably going to make a few more cakes this week, i want to perfect them. and i'm gonna try and find the recipe for christine's icing. i think it's either called royal icing or american frosting. its really sweet and white and it's quite stiff, so it kinda hardens over the cake. when you bite into it, it kinda breaks. mmmm.

i'm trying to enroll in all my classes for auckland. OH MAN. it's really really really confusing. i have to do it on the web which makes it worse and i still have to think of one more elective. the lady on the phone said i should do something i know i'll do well in. i might take introduction to music or english literature. or maybe i should do a maths paper, i dunno. this is a really hard decision.
i guess i'm gonna have to get togs too cause they're going to the hot springs for O-week. well, i really only want to go to the harbour cruise and the island day, so maybe i won't go to the hot springs cause it costs more money and i'll need to get togs.

i haven't updated this thing in awhile, mostly because i was given a diary for Christmas and i've been mostly writing in that. well first things first, i've been accepted into the university of auckland. i'm insanely relieved and excited. cass and leah also got in and are definitely going. we'll be staying in the same hostel (o'rorke) and it's really nice. did i mention how nice the university is? i managed to have a look at it on monday and it's very old fashioned and beautiful. personally i think it's nicer than otago and massey. i'm heading up to auckland around the 17th of february and i'm quite nervous.
i went up to auckland on monday and managed to do a little bit of shopping, although i didn't buy anything. we went to dressmart and newmarket. i really like newmarket, it's a huge shopping mall but a lot of the places are really really expensive, even on sale. from tuesday to friday i was at the Christian WorldView Conference which was held in buckland beach. we stayed at the holiday park and it was very close to the ocean and you could smell the sea breeze. the conference itself was very very good, although extremely challenging. it had a lot of history and philosophy so i didn't understand a lot of it. the speakers were very funny as well and there were a couple analogies that i couldn't stop laughing about (eg. copper nitrate - it does NOT mean the pay that a policeman does at night). two speakers, rc sproul jr and isaac botkin, were american and there was a maori guy which did a lecture about maori culture in new zealand. he was really really funny. in between, i managed to fit in lots of frivolous activities like playing on the playground, jumping on the trampoline, going to the beach and getting beaten at foosball and ping pong by kids younger than me. how embarrassing.
oh yeah i finished work yesterday permanently. my contract expires next week but i have a couple of lieu days so my boss figured she'd give me a couple of days off, which is really nice. i really need to start practising my driving and sorting stuff out for university. we're getting a new computer for home since i'm taking the laptop. i really want one of them flat screens cause they look so cool.
also, i think we saw the all blacks in taupo on friday night.

hi. i hope everyone had a good christmas, and for those who don't celebrate christmas...well, i guess you just missed out. it was a great day at home, lots of eating, watching tv and sleeping which suited me perfectly. the fam came over and we just hung out. i cooked lunch and it was so good. unfortunately i had to work on boxing day.
i haven't been doing a lot at all, just working. did i mention i work at Pumpkin Patch? it's a kids clothing store. i really like it there, a lot of cute little kids and babies. and they sell really cute clothes! also i've been reading a lot, i finished a very good book called Possession: A Romance by AS Byatt. normally i'm not into the whole modern romance thing but this is an interesting concept. it's about this literary scholar who discovers these handwritten letters amongst this book that's been untouched for like 100 years. anyway, these letters are addressed to some dark lady (think shakespeare) and so he tries to track down who it was written too and in doing so, he discovers that this victorian poet had an affair with some other fairy poetess. it's written very well, with lots of letters, stories and poems in between and it kinda drifts between the 19th century and the 1980's. anyway, i highly recommend it for people that like literature and mysteries and stuff. but it's quite a heavy read.
